Barregarrow ( manés : Bayr Garroo [ bi ˈɡa(ː)ɾo ] ) [ 1 ] es una aldea y distrito en la Isla de Man. Es una zona montañosa y forma parte del circuito de carreras de motocicletas TT de la Isla de Man .

Descripción

La zona de Bayr Garrow o Barrowgarrow es una antigua área de pastizales de montaña o «hortizos» situada en una serie de crestas formadas por un lago posglacial ( en manés : Creggan Jeebylt ), frente a Cronk Urleigh, que desembocaba a través del valle de Ballaleigh, hacia el oeste, en el río Glen Mooar, en la carretera A4 que une Peel con Kirk Michael. Los pastizales de montaña del Parque Sartfell se encuentran en el lado occidental de la cercana montaña Sartfell y en el cruce de caminos de Barrowgarrow. [ 2 ]

Capilla metodista wesleyana de Bayr Garroo

La capilla metodista de Barregarrow fue visitada por John Wesley en junio de 1781. En su diario escribió:

Lunes 4… Luego cabalgamos a través de las montañas hasta Beergarrow; donde impuse, a una congregación sencilla y cariñosa: « Si alguno tiene sed, venga a mí y beba». [Juan 7:371]… [ 3 ] [ 4 ]

Patrimonio del automovilismo

El tramo de Barrowgarrow de la carretera A3 de Castletown a Ramsey formaba parte del circuito Four Inch Course de 37,50 millas para las carreras de automóviles RAC Tourist Trophy celebradas en la Isla de Man entre 1908 y 1922. [ 5 ]

En 1911 , el circuito Four Inch Course para automóviles fue utilizado por primera vez por la Auto-Cycling Union para las carreras de motocicletas TT de la Isla de Man . Esto incluía la sección de Barrowgarrow [ 6 ] y el circuito más tarde se conoció como el Isle of Man TT Mountain Course de 37,73 millas , que también se ha utilizado desde 1923 para las carreras del Manx Grand Prix . [ 7 ]

La carretera C4 Ballaleigh Road, con su cruce con la carretera A3 Castletown a Ramsey en el cruce de Barregarrow, se ha utilizado como parte de etapas cronometradas para el Rally de la Isla de Man , el antiguo Rally Internacional de Manx y el Rally Nacional de Manx. [ 8 ]
