La Zastava CZ99 es una pistola semiautomática producida por Zastava Arms . [ 3 ]

Historia

La pistola fue diseñada en 1989 por Božidar Blagojević.

Sin embargo, la CZ99 ya no se fabrica, aunque todavía se producen variantes más pequeñas con algunas mejoras modernas, la CZ999 y la EZ9.

Diseño

No hay que confundir la CZ99 con el fabricante checo de armas de fuego Česká Zbrojovka , ya que las siglas CZ en el nombre de la CZ99 significan "Crvena Zastava".

Visualmente, la pistola se asemeja a una SIG-Sauer P226 y, como tal, a menudo se la compara con la SIG. [ 4 ] [ 5 ] Sin embargo, el diseño general de la pistola se inspiró mucho más en la Walther P88 que en la P226.

El aspecto exterior del arma y la ausencia de un extractor externo fueron ideas de diseño tomadas de la P226.

Algunas de las características de la P88 que se utilizaron en la CZ99 incluyen estrías similares en la corredera, cargador, botón de liberación del cargador y, por supuesto, el seguro-desamartillador combinado ambidiestro.

A diferencia de la P226, la CZ99 también cuenta con una corredera de acero mecanizado. La P226 (en el momento del diseño de esta pistola) tenía una corredera de chapa de acero estampada y soldada.

La CZ99 se fabrica principalmente en calibre 9×19 mm Parabellum con un cargador de 15 cartuchos, aunque también existen variantes en calibre .40 Smith & Wesson , con cargadores de diez cartuchos.

Variantes

La CZ999 y la EZ9 son prácticamente idénticas a la CZ99, aunque han sido rediseñadas para ser más ergonómicas. La mayoría de las piezas son intercambiables entre los modelos nuevos y antiguos, pero algunas, como las cachas, no lo son.

CZ999 Scorpion

La CZ999 Scorpion ( en serbio : ЦЗ999 ) es una variante actualizada de la CZ99 con algunas mejoras, como una empuñadura más delgada y paneles de agarre rediseñados, estrías más anchas en la corredera, una parte trasera de la empuñadura estriada, miras estándar de 3 puntos, un gatillo curvo, un guardamonte cuadrado y un espolón del martillo más largo.

Aunque inicialmente se diseñó para el calibre 9×19 mm, existe una variante de la CZ99 con recámara para el calibre .40 S&W , principalmente para importadores extranjeros, y muchos de estos revólveres fueron importados por Estados Unidos en 1990.

Con el tiempo, se han desarrollado versiones más recientes de esta arma de fuego: la Zastava CZ999, con selector DAO y DA/SA, así como la CZ999 Scorpion sin este selector. También cuenta con un indicador de recámara cargada. Viene además en un modelo compacto. [ 6 ]

Zastava EZ

Fourth generation CZ99. It is the same as the CZ999, however it has an under-barrel picatinny rail for mounting lights and accessories and a larger ring hammer. Service- and personal defence gun, single/double action, ambidextrous. The CZ999 and EZ9 do accept standard CZ99 magazines, but they will not accept all CZ99 parts, such as grip panels. Also like the CZ999, the EZ9 exists in two calibers.[7] There are compact versions of both calibers.[8]

Though the Golan lacks the CZ99's loaded chamber indicator and has a shorter slide and barrel, different grips, and other minor cosmetic variations from the CZ99, it is virtually identical in internal design, and some parts are interchangeable between the two.[9]

In the early 1990s South African company Tressitu entered into a licensing agreement with Crvena Zastava to produce a licensed copy named the TZ99, offered in both 9×19mm and .40 S&W.

The TZ99 was only produced for a short period before the company went out of business in the mid-1990s. A number of TZ99s stored from the dissolution were imported to the US in the mid-2000s.[10]

Adoption

The CZ99 replaced the outdated Zastava M57 in Yugoslavian military service because of its many new features, such as a fully chromed barrel, tritium night sights, an indicator for the last three rounds remaining in the magazine and a loaded chamber indicator.

The CZ99 is still used in military and police service throughout the Balkans.
