Daniel T. Potts , FBA (nacido en 1953), es un historiador y arqueólogo estadounidense [ 1 ] que es profesor de Arqueología e Historia del Antiguo Cercano Oriente en el Instituto para el Estudio del Mundo Antiguo de la Universidad de Nueva York .

Carrera

Potts se graduó de la Universidad de Harvard ( licenciatura en 1975 y doctorado en 1980) y trabajó en la Universidad Libre de Berlín (1981-1986) y en la Universidad de Copenhague (1980-1981, 1986-1991). De 1991 a 2012 fue profesor titular de la cátedra Edwin Cuthbert Hall de Arqueología de Oriente Medio en la Universidad de Sídney . Actualmente es profesor de Arqueología e Historia del Antiguo Cercano Oriente en el Instituto para el Estudio del Mundo Antiguo de la Universidad de Nueva York. [ 2 ] Anteriormente también trabajó en Irán, Turquía y los Emiratos Árabes Unidos. [ 3 ]

Potts es un experto en la historia del antiguo Cercano Oriente . [ 2 ] Centró principalmente su investigación en la historia de Irán desde la antigüedad hasta la era premoderna [ 1 ] y la historia de la Península Arábiga . [ 3 ]
