Hispanopedia WikiEl Alto Sheriff de Fermanagh es el representante judicial del Soberano en el condado de Fermanagh . Inicialmente un cargo vitalicio, designado por el Soberano, el Alto Sheriff pasó a ser nombrado anualmente a partir de las Provisiones de Oxford en 1258. Historia
Los primeros (Altos) Sheriffs se establecieron antes de la conquista normanda en 1066 y datan de la época sajona . [ 3 ] En 1908, una Orden del Consejo convirtió al Lord-Teniente en el principal representante del Soberano en un condado y redujo la precedencia del Alto Sheriff. [ 4 ] Sin embargo, a pesar de ello, el cargo conserva sus responsabilidades para la preservación de la ley y el orden en un condado. [ 2 ]
Si bien el cargo de Alto Sheriff dejó de existir en aquellos condados irlandeses que formaron el Estado Libre Irlandés en 1922, todavía existe en los condados de Irlanda del Norte.
