Koteshwar es un lugar ubicado en el distrito de Katmandú . En 1991, la ciudad metropolitana de Katmandú se expandió al incorporar Koteshwar como el barrio n.° 32 (anteriormente 35). Abarca 395 hectáreas y limita con el río Manohara al este y al sur, el río Bagmati al oeste, y comparte fronteras con Gothatar al norte, el municipio de Madhyapur Thimi del distrito de Bhaktapur al este y la ciudad metropolitana de Lalitpur al sur. Historia

El nombre de Koteshwar deriva del nombre del templo de Shiva , Koteshwar Mahadev . Durante el período Malla , Koteshwar era una zona fronteriza triple en la confluencia de los reinos de Kantipur , Patan y Bhaktapur .
