Olu ( trad. Ella ) es una película de fantasía india en idioma malayalam dirigida por Shaji N. Karun y escrita por TD Ramakrishnan . [ 2 ] La película está protagonizada por Esther Anil , Shane Nigam , Indrans y Kani Kusruti en los papeles principales; producida por AV Anoop. [ 3 ] La película fue la película de apertura del 49.º Festival Internacional de Cine de la India (2018). También se proyectó en otros importantes festivales de cine. [ 1 ]

Sajin Shrijith de The New Indian Express calificó la película con tres de cinco estrellas y escribió: «Aunque no la llamaría una obra maestra, encontré que Olu es un esfuerzo mucho mejor que Swaham, Nishad y Swapaanam, pero un par de escalones por debajo de Piravi, Vanaprastham y Kutty Srank. Definitivamente vale la pena verla». [ 5 ] Deepa Antony de The Times of India le dio dos estrellas y media de cinco y escribió: «Sin espacio para la comedia ni referencias cotidianas, Olu es lo que llaman cine de autor. Pero lamentablemente, incluso como cine de autor, se contiene en las emociones y se centra en los gráficos generados por computadora que los elementos fantásticos exigen. Sin embargo, Olu se puede ver con la paciencia que uno reserva solo para el cine de autor, pero nada más». [ 6 ]

S. R. Praveen of The Hindu wrote, "the plastic, soulless conversations, and some weak writing, drags the film down. So much so that even M.J. Radhakrishnan's evocative imageries fail to save it. The moralistic stand the film leans towards also feels a bit outdated, but then that is excusable considering the place and time where the film is set."[7] Padmakumar K of Onmanorama wrote, "Fantasies always transcend beauty and time, but at the same time if gone wrong it can go overboard. Karun, at certain areas, does seem to sweat to manoeuvrer the required connectivity between the magical and the real, especially after the movie journeys to Mumbai in the second half. Yet, the movie provides a wholesome entertainment that is aesthetically refreshing."[8]
