Hispanopedia WikiPtenothrix es un género de colémbolos globulares de la familia Dicyrtomidae . Existen alrededor de 92 especies descritas de Ptenothrix en todo el mundo. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] El género se define por un conjunto de rasgos, la mayoría relacionados con la quetotaxia . Estos rasgos son los siguientes: abdomen grande sin protuberancia, con un conjunto completo de bothriotricha y cubierto posteriormente con pequeñas quetas acantoides, cabeza y abdomen con al menos algunas quetas acantoides grandes, tibiotarso posterior con 2-3 quetas serradas modificadas, garras generalmente sin túnica, quetas externas e internas en las dens a menudo serradas y ausencia de quetas neosminturoides. [ 2 ]
