The Gift Supreme es una película muda estadounidense de drama de 1920 protagonizada por Bernard Durning , Seena Owen , Lon Chaney (en un papel secundario de villano) y Tully Marshall . La película fue dirigida por Ollie Sellers y basada en la novela homónima de 1916 de George Allan England . La mayoría de las fuentes no indican quién escribió el guion, aunque probablemente fue Ollie Sellers. El asistente de dirección fue Justin McKlosky. Trama

Bradford Vinton es desheredado por su acaudalado padre, Eliot Vinton, por negarse a terminar su amistad con Sylvia Alden, una hermosa joven misionera y cantante de Boggs Court, un barrio marginal de Londres. Eliot incluso intenta que la joven sea arrestada bajo una falsa acusación de prostitución, por lo que Bradford reprende furiosamente al anciano. Cuando Bradford va a comunicarle a Sylvia que ha sido desheredado, descubre que ella ya se ha marchado de la ciudad.

Bradford abre un restaurante barato en la zona para dar de comer a las personas sin hogar y, una noche, un gánster llamado Merney Stagg lo apuñala en un ataque de ira provocado por la embriaguez. Más tarde descubre que fue Merney Stagg quien ayudó a su padre a incriminar a Sylvia.

"While 'old stuff' in the main, without any distinguishing high lights either in production, handling or cast, it is interesting...Of the character actors, Lon Chaney takes all the honors with Tully Marshall, of course, doing a small role in excellent fashion. The balance of the cast is acceptable.....The production is in six reels and runs a trifle too long." ---Variety[7]

Current status

An incomplete print (reel one of six) survives and is preserved in a private collection.[9] Since the film was released to the 16mm rental market in the 1920s, it is possible that a complete print may survive in the hands of a private collector somewhere, but so far only reel one has surfaced.

A brief clip from the film was used in the Kino produced 1995 documentary Lon Chaney: Behind the Mask.[10]
