Allertonshire o Allerton era un wapentake y una libertad en el North Riding de Yorkshire , Inglaterra . [ 1 ]

Northallerton , nombre actual de Allerton, estuvo históricamente asociado con el obispado de Durham , siendo un enclave eclesiástico particular hasta el siglo XIX.

La ubicación central del condado en North Riding (1889-1974) y su sucesor, North Yorkshire (1974-presente), permitió que la ciudad se convirtiera en el centro administrativo de ambos condados.
