Dalgado Konknni Akademi

The Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) is an organisation located in Panjim, Goa that works for the development and promotion of Konkani in the Roman script.

The academy was established in 1988 and named after Goan Catholic priest Sebastião Rodolfo Dalgado.^[1] During the period 1988-1992, the DKA was very active. Fr. Freddy J. da Costa was the president, playwright Tomazinho Cardozo was the secretary and Prabhakar Tendulkar the treasurer. During this period, DKA published Konkani Orthography in Roman Script, a publication intended for writers to understand the principles and rules of writing Konkani in Roman script.

Cardozo was the second president and Jose Salvador Fernandes and Prabhakar Tendulkar were the secretary and treasurer respectively. Konkani actor Premanand Lotlikar was the president of for three consecutive terms of 3 years each (2008 to 2017) while Vincy Quadros has been the secretary from the year 2014. There have been calls for the Government of Goa to stop discriminating against Romi Konkani and officially recognise the DKA.^[2]

The organisation aims to promote the study and development of the Konkani language in Roman script; recognize schools that promote the Konkani language; and hold cultural activities for the Konkani language, its literature, and the culture of its writers and speakers.

Estos premios se instituyen para reconocer el trabajo realizado por escritores y otras personas en el campo de la literatura Romi Konkani, activistas culturales, activistas del patrimonio, jóvenes talentos, la mejor institución Romi Konkani y el periodismo.

La Academia también ha impulsado el Konknni (Romi Lipi) Sahitya ani Sonvskrutik Sammelan (Conferencia Literaria y Cultural Konkani), que se celebra desde el año 2008. Vincy Quadros fue el presidente de la primera edición. La Academia también organiza anualmente una Conferencia de Escritores en beneficio de los escritores de Romi Konkani. ^{[ 3 ]}

Además de esto, la academia realiza concursos literarios de cuento, poesía, ensayos, obras de teatro de un acto y novelas. ^{[ 4 ]} y organiza encuentros de poetas. ^{[ 5 ]} La DKA también publica una gran cantidad de libros en konkani. ^{[ 6 ] [ 7 ]} La academia también organiza concursos como escritura de novelas y lectura de cuentos para aumentar la lectura y, al mismo tiempo, inculcar el hábito de leer konkani en escritura romana. El año 2015 abrió el camino para el Concurso Estatal de Lectura de Konkani. Quienes obtuvieron los tres primeros lugares son seleccionados para la Ronda Final en la oficina de la Academia en Panjim. Se otorgan premios en efectivo y certificados en todos los niveles. ^{[ 8 ] [ 9 ]} La DKA tiene vínculos con el Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr ^{[ 10 ]} y coordina varias actividades con él.

La Academia está ubicada en el segundo piso del antiguo edificio del Departamento de Educación, cerca del Colegio de Farmacia de Goa, también en el segundo piso del edificio situado en Panjim o Panaji, la capital del estado de Goa .
