Hispanopedia WikiEsta es una lista de todos los luchadores de sumo cuyo máximo logro en este deporte ha sido el tercer rango más alto, el de sekiwake , y que mantuvieron dicho rango en la era moderna del sumo desde la fusión de las organizaciones de Tokio y Osaka en 1927. Los luchadores que ascendieron a ōzeki y yokozuna pueden consultarse en la Lista de ōzeki y la Lista de yokozuna .
Si bien es obligatorio y lo más común que cada tabla de clasificación ( banzuke ) incluya exactamente dos luchadores en este rango, en raras ocasiones se han dado casos de tres o incluso cuatro sekiwake activos .
También se indica el número de torneos ( basho ) en sekiwake . Los luchadores que ganaron un campeonato de división superior ( yūshō ) se indican en negrita . Los luchadores activos se indican en cursiva .

Trivia
The longest-serving sekiwake of modern times, who could not secure further promotion, have been Hasegawa and Kotonishiki who each held the rank for 21 tournaments, with the former failing despite achieving a consecutive jun-yusho and yusho at the rank. (Kotomitsuki was ranked at sekiwake for 22 tournaments but ultimately promoted to ōzeki.)
Having held a rank of komusubi or sekiwake for at least one tournament will qualify a wrestler to later become a sumo elder (toshiyori), while the many that fail to do so are subject to much stricter criteria.
