El Programa de Becarios MacArthur , también conocido como Beca MacArthur y coloquialmente llamado " Beca Genius ", [a] es un premio otorgado anualmente por la Fundación John D. y Catherine T. MacArthur a típicamente entre 20 y 30 individuos que trabajan en cualquier campo que han demostrado "extraordinaria originalidad y dedicación en sus actividades creativas y una marcada capacidad de autodirección" y son ciudadanos o residentes de los Estados Unidos . El programa no acepta solicitudes. La fundación invita a presentar nominaciones anónimas y confidenciales, que son revisadas por un comité de selección anónimo y confidencial de una docena de personas. Destinatarios

Desde 1981, 1.131 personas han sido nombradas becarias MacArthur, [9] con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y los 82 años. [10]
