Hispanopedia WikiThe Deep End, Volume 1 es el cuarto álbum de estudio de la banda de rock estadounidense Gov't Mule . Fue lanzado el 23 de octubre de 2001 por ATO Records y Evangeline Records .
Tras la muerte del miembro fundador y bajista Allen Woody , la banda consideró disolverse. En cambio, los miembros restantes, Warren Haynes y Matt Abts, grabaron varias canciones con bajistas a quienes Woody admiraba. Tantos músicos quisieron participar que la banda terminó grabando material para dos álbumes. El propio Woody aparece póstumamente en una versión de "Sin's a Good Man's Brother" de Grand Funk Railroad .
El volumen 1 se publicó en 2001. Originalmente, The Deep End, Volume 1 se lanzó con un disco extra llamado Hidden Treasures que presentaba actuaciones en vivo de la "New School of Gov't Mule" (Haynes, Abts, el bajista Dave Schools y el tecladista Chuck Leavell ).
El segundo volumen de The Deep End se publicó un año después, con un sonido algo más pesado.
"Sco-Mule" fue nominada al premio Grammy a la Mejor Interpretación Instrumental de Rock en 2003.
