Hispanopedia WikiThe Torosay transmitting station[1] is a television broadcasting facility on the Isle of Mull, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland (grid referenceND197385). It is owned and operated by Arqiva.
It is located in the parish of Torosay in the foothills of Dùn da Ghaoithe, the second highest mountain in Mull. Although the mountain reaches 2,513 feet (766 m), the transmitter is at 1,401 feet (427 m).[1]
Coverage
Torosay provides television signals to areas around Loch Linnhe and the Sound of Mull including Oban, Fort William, Lochaline, and to both Craignure and Tobermory on the Isle of Mull.[2]
Torosay is part of the STV Central TV region.[3]
It entered into service on 11 June 1976.[1]

Due to the local geography, Torosay provides a source for 21 relay transmitters.[5]

Digital Switchover : Digital Switchover go to phases 13th of October 2010: BBC2 Scotland switched off on UHF channel 28, and BBC A was launched at the old BBC2 frequency. 27th of October 2010: BBC1 Scotland, CHANNEL 22, STV Central (Scottish Television) Channel 25, Channel 4 Channel 32, was switched off forever, High Power freeview signals were launched on the old analogue channels.
