Esta es una lista de las rutas de autobús contratadas por Transport for London (TfL) en Londres , Inglaterra, así como las rutas de autobús que no pertenecen a TfL y que entran en el Gran Londres (excepto los autocares ).

Las rutas de autobús de TfL en Londres son operadas por 7 operadores. Estos operadores son: Arriva London , Go-Ahead London ( London Central , London General , Docklands Buses y Blue Triangle ), Metroline , First Bus London ( London Sovereign , London United y London Transit ), Stagecoach London ( East London , Selkent , Thameside y Lea Interchange Bus Company ), Transport UK London Bus y Uno .

Algunas rutas de autobús que no pertenecen a TfL entran en el Gran Londres y operan con un permiso de servicio de Londres proporcionado por TfL. Por lo tanto, esas rutas se muestran en las paradas de autobús de TfL. Clasificación de los números de ruta

En la época victoriana, quienes tomaban el autobús reconocían al propietario y la ruta de un ómnibus ( del latín « para todos » ) únicamente por su librea y el nombre de la línea, con letreros pintados en los laterales que indicaban las dos terminales. En 1906, George Samuel Dicks, de la London Motor Omnibus Company, decidió que, dado que el nombre de la línea «Vanguard» había demostrado ser muy popular, denominaría todas sus líneas «Vanguard» y numeraría las cinco rutas de la compañía del 1 al 5. La Ley de Tráfico de Londres de 1924 impuso un sistema de numeración conocido como el Sistema Bassom, llamado así en honor al superintendente (más tarde jefe de policía ) Arthur Ernest Bassom de la Policía Metropolitana , quien lo ideó. 900–999

Las rutas del 900 al 999 corresponden a autobuses adaptados para personas con movilidad reducida. Estos autobuses ofrecen principalmente un servicio de ida y vuelta semanal a un centro comercial local desde barrios de baja densidad donde no existe una ruta alternativa en la red principal de autobuses. El número de rutas de autobuses adaptados ha disminuido en los últimos años debido a la incorporación de autobuses de piso bajo y accesibles para sillas de ruedas en todas las rutas de London Buses , así como al aumento de la capacidad del servicio Dial-a-Ride . A partir de 2026, solo existe una ruta de autobús adaptado en funcionamiento: la ruta 969.

Las rutas de autobús nocturno suelen estar relacionadas con sus equivalentes diurnos, recorriendo normalmente la misma ruta pero con una extensión en ambos extremos del servicio. Esto se hace normalmente para ofrecer un servicio nocturno a destinos a los que se puede llegar en metro o tren durante el día. [ 142 ]

Sin embargo, existen algunos números de ruta con prefijo N que no guardan relación con sus equivalentes diurnos: las rutas N5, N20 y N97 operan en una zona diferente de Londres que sus respectivas rutas diurnas. Asimismo, las rutas N118 (que discurre parcialmente junto a la ruta N18), N472 (cuyo servicio diurno se suprimió en enero de 2026), N550 y N551 (que ofrecen servicio nocturno en partes de la red del DLR) no tienen rutas diurnas correspondientes. También existen rutas que funcionan las 24 horas, tanto de día como de noche, aunque generalmente con menor frecuencia durante la noche. La gran mayoría mantiene la misma ruta en todo momento. Con la introducción del Night Tube , algunas rutas diurnas se han ampliado para funcionar también los viernes y sábados por la noche, dando servicio a las estaciones.

Rutas de autobús no gestionadas por TfL en el Gran Londres.

Estas rutas de autobús no están contratadas por Transport for London y, por lo tanto, no son autobuses de Londres . La mayoría conectan pueblos y ciudades fuera del Gran Londres con destinos dentro del mismo. Están pintados de un color elegido por el operador, por lo que pueden no ser rojos como los autobuses de Londres y no aceptan tarjetas Oyster . Estas rutas operan con un permiso de servicio de Londres emitido por TfL, por lo que aparecen en las paradas de autobús de TfL y se reconocen en los mapas de autobuses de TfL. [ 143 ]
