El Salón Internacional del Automóvil de Nueva York es un salón del automóvil anual que se celebra en Manhattan , Nueva York, a finales de marzo o principios de abril. Se lleva a cabo en el Centro de Convenciones Jacob Javits . Por lo general, se inaugura el fin de semana de Pascua o justo antes y se cierra el primer domingo después de Pascua.
El salón se celebra anualmente desde 1900. [3] Fue la primera exposición automotriz en América del Norte. [4]
El espectáculo se celebró en el New York Coliseum desde 1956 hasta 1987, cuando el espectáculo se trasladó al Javits Center. [5]
Cada año, antes de la inauguración del salón, varias empresas automovilísticas presentan nuevos vehículos de producción y prototipos para la prensa. Además, la Asociación de Concesionarios de Automóviles del Área Metropolitana de Nueva York (GNYADA) y la Asociación Internacional de Prensa Automovilística (IMPA) organizan reuniones y eventos corporativos. Los World Car Awards suelen anunciar a sus ganadores anuales como parte de estos eventos.
Además de los programas individuales durante la feria, se realizan conferencias, foros, simposios y otras reuniones relacionadas con el automóvil. Se estima que la contribución del evento de diez días a la economía de la ciudad y el estado es de cientos de millones de dólares. [6]

El espectáculo de 2020 estaba programado previamente para realizarse del 28 de agosto al 6 de septiembre, con días de vista previa para la prensa el 26 y 27 de agosto. [40] Originalmente estaba programado del 10 al 19 de abril, pero el 10 de marzo se pospuso hasta fines de agosto debido a la pandemia de coronavirus . [41] Las presentaciones planificadas incluyeron el Lucid Air de producción y un superdeportivo propulsado por hidrógeno del recién llegado Hyperion Motors. [42]
El 22 de mayo de 2020, los organizadores anunciaron que la edición de 2020 se cancelaría debido a que el Centro de Convenciones seguiría utilizándose como hospital provisional activo, por lo que el Centro quedaría en espera de ser utilizado en el futuro previsible.
