El Salón del Automóvil de Detroit , anteriormente conocido como el Salón Internacional del Automóvil de Norteamérica ( NAIAS ), [1] es un salón del automóvil anual que se celebra en Detroit, Michigan . Celebrado en Huntington Place (anteriormente Cobo Center) desde 1965, [2] es uno de los salones del automóvil más grandes de América del Norte y es ampliamente considerado como uno de los eventos más importantes de la industria automotriz. Historia

En 1899, William E. Metzger ayudó a organizar el Salón del Automóvil de Detroit, el segundo de su tipo, después del Salón del Automóvil de París de 1898. [ 5 ] En 1907 se celebró un salón del automóvil en Detroit en el Beller's Beer Garden en Riverside Park y desde entonces se ha celebrado anualmente, excepto entre 1941 y 1953. Desde 1965, el evento se lleva a cabo en Huntington Place (anteriormente Cobo Center), [7] donde ocupa casi 1 millón de pies cuadrados (93.000 m 2 ) de espacio. Antes de realizarse en Huntington Place, el evento se llevó a cabo en otros lugares conocidos en el área metropolitana de Detroit, incluido Light Guard Armory, el pabellón Wayne Gardens y Michigan State Fairgrounds . 2025

En 2025, el evento volverá a su fecha anterior de enero, con una fecha programada del 10 al 20 de enero de 2025. [1] No está previsto que se celebre ningún evento en 2024. 2023

La feria de 2023 se desarrolló del 16 al 24 de septiembre, con una vista previa para los medios el 13 y una vista previa benéfica (con una actuación de Jennifer Hudson ) el 15. Para 2023, el evento volvió a su formato anterior, totalmente en interiores. Los tres fabricantes de automóviles con sede en Detroit expusieron, junto con Hyundai, Kia, Toyota y Volkswagen. Two major awards are presented at the auto show: the EyesOn Design Awards for Design Excellence,[267] and the Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year Award, which was founded in 1994. At the North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards, awarded in the preview period of the auto show, around 55 automotive journalists serve as judges. They evaluate "value, innovation, design, performance, safety, technology and driver satisfaction."[49]

EyesOn Design Award winners

  • 2004: Winners were the Mazda Kabura concept for "Aesthetics & Innovation", the Ferrari FXX prototype for "Functionality", and the Chevrolet Camaro (fifth generation) model for "Concept Implementation".[267]
  • 2007: Winners were the 2007 Chrysler Nassau concept for "Aesthetics & Innovation", the Kia Kue concept for "Functionality", the 2008 Cadillac CTS (second generation) production model for "Concept Implementation", and the Jeep Trailhawk concept for "Spirit of Industrial Design".[267]
  • 2008: The Cadillac CTS concept and the Chrysler ecoVoyager won the awards for concept car and truck. The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V and the BMW X6 received the Design Excellence awards for best production car and truck.[267]
